Very cool hack to turn two LCD monitors and a Wii mote in to windows with a virtual view that track the perspective of the viewer.

One improvement would be to use cameras as in Project Natal so that the viewer would not have to wear anything special for the effect.

Google has given a select few large international cities the high res texture treatment. For a while now you could view buildings in 3D in Google earth. In many cases without textures on them or with low res textures. Now Google have applied Google Street View images as textures on the buildings in a few select cities making them much more interesting to look at. Check out the vid.

Large meteors are called fireballs. Here is a nice sized one filmed in Iowa last night.
